Message :Reposted in the correct forum. I just took my Z to the shop for an extensive rebuild. Im looking for a Torque Plate for the VG30DETT as they dont carry one or have access to one. Id rather not purchase one but would be more then happy to pay to rent one from someone. I live in Texas so if you know someone that has one or maybe a shop around here that rents them PLEASE let me know. They can do the rebuild without one but I want my baby to be perfect.

Using a torque plate is the correct way to have round cylinders. The machine shop that did all the work on my motor builds import (not rice) drag race motors and does restoration work on vintage automobiles. They also told me that for the street no torque plate is required, but is always used for race motors.
They after I paid for a BHJ Torque Plate use it to hone the cylinders. They also took multiple measurement around the bore (x,y, and z) axis. What they found is the VG30DETT block is quite elastic, and the cylinder bores bowed about 1 to 1 1/2inchs down from the desk with the torque plate installed. Bottom Line, use a torque plate.
